Barely Vegan: Start here!




Just about a week ago this word for me was associated with a diet so healthy and pure that I couldn’t' even fathom what it would be like to actually try it. Hm...."Well aren't you a Nutrition major?" Well yes I am :)
I LOVE FOOD! Flavors! Textures! Aromas! Fat! Animals! Saturated fats! Antioxidants! BRING IT! :))

My major is funny. You know those horrible PETA videos where IF you finish one, you swear not to eat meat ever again? for about a day or two
Well, similar (not as cruel) videos were shown in my classrooms over and over...and over......and over again :) By like the 6th one you start thinking "Ok....freaking....what is this? This is just pure madness." Well, long story short I still went home and ate meat and dairy. There was no defined connection between what was shown and what I saw- A delicious piece of gorgonzola that goes quiet well with my Riesling. UNTIL

That did it.

So. Due to this sporadic decision, I was completely unprepared and unarmed for this battle against the dairy and pretty much the whole animal farming industry.

My fridge when I got home:

peppered turkey
smoked gouda
eggs (boiled from before)
1/2 1/2 (for tea)
veggies
goat cheese
butter

Mmmmmyeaaah...not many choices for a poor little vegan.

I was hungry. I was REALLY hungry. ALL-the-TIME.
